As a researcher at DRIFT, Tessa de Geus specialises in the social dimensions of the energy transition. By applying systems thinking and conducting research she aims to contribute to a democratic shift to a zero-carbon society. Tessa currently works on the EU-funded projects TOMORROW, Energy-SHIFTS and PROSEU, in which she implements decarbonisation roadmaps, matches policy makers with researchers and studies incentives for energy prosumerism.

Tessa is fascinated by the question how social movements and social innovation affect transitions. Before joining DRIFT, Tessa supported grassroots initiatives and civil servants across Europe as an advisor at the think tank Kennisland. During this time, Tessa built her experience as a workshop facilitator, moderator and writer for platforms such as OneWorld. Prior to this, she worked with the civil society team of the UNDP in New York, conducted a needs assessment for IDPs in Ethiopia and performed consultancy research at Berenschot International.

Tessa holds an MSc. in Global Politics (Global Civil Society) from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Earlier, she earned a BA. in Political Science, Anthropology and Social Geography from the University College Utrecht, with a minor in Political Philosophy from Sciences Po Paris. As a certified dance teacher, you will often find Tessa in the dance or yoga studio in her spare time.
