wientjes@drift.eur.nl
Audrey focuses on issues of justice and governance in energy transitions. Her work predominantly contributes to the EU Horizon project JustWind4All, which uses an interdisciplinary approach to support the acceleration of on- and offshore wind energy in the EU.
Alongside working at DRIFT, Audrey is pursuing a master’s degree in Industrial Ecology, which uses a systems approach to understand the relationship between society, the economy, and the natural environment in order to drive holistic sustainability. Prior to this, she completed her bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and Science with a specialisation in sustainability. During her studies, she has focused on topics of urban sustainability and renewable energy systems, and is particularly interested in their spatial and social impacts. Having grown up in the US, she is fascinated by the interplay of culture and approaches to sustainability.
Aside from research, Audrey enjoys organising events on sustainability-related topics, and previously worked as events manager for Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Centre for Sustainability Students. In her free time, you may find her rock-climbing, hiking, reading books on post-capitalism and playing board games.
